Before sending us your fearless essays and killer short stories, here are some things you should know: we try not to put limits on the length of stories, but we tend to publish stuff that’s between 2,000 and 5,000 words (ish). We also like it when you double space your stories. Thanks for thinking of us as a home for your work.

THESE ARE OUR GUIDELINES:

1. 1. Please send your submission as an attachment.
   (Almost any kind will do: Word, PDF, Google doc, etc.)
   

2. 2. Do not send more than one submission. We will only consider one at a time.
   (Possible exception if you want us to consider both fiction and nonfiction.)
   

3. 3. Feel free to send us a simultaneous submission. It’s your work — you do what you gotta do.
   BUT PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOUR STORY OR ESSAY GETS ACCEPTED ELSEWHERE.
   

4. 4. Only send us previously unpublished work.
   

5. 5. After you’ve sent in your submission, please wait patiently.
   

6. 6. Sometimes very patiently. Thanks.

We only publish a flash issue once annually and are currently closed for flash submissions.
